Not able to add a site admin
-
My friend is trying to add me as a site admin for their WordPress site, but for reasons we can’t figure out, the invitation never goes through. On their end, the message reads ‘invite sent’, but I never receive the invite on my end. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Additional details:
– We are both on the free plan (so no plugins or other things like that that could be affecting the sending of invitations)
– Neither of us have issues receiving notifications for our own websites -

Same site as the one I’m trying to follow, this one: https://freezingslowly.wordpress.com/

I don’t see any invitation emails for the email address on your account in our logs.
I wonder if all the periods in your email address might be causing a problem with our email servers. Can you update your WordPress.com account email, just removing all the periods you’ve added? Gmail treats it exactly the same with or without the periods.
Then ask your friend to try inviting you again.

Hi again. The issue was indeed with the number of dots in your email, but this should be fixed now as per the other issue you reported in https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/unable-to-follow-new-sites/

Hi, we have tried taking out the dots in the email address, but resending the invite hasn’t worked.

What is the URL of the site your friend is inviting you to, and can you ask them to please comment here and confirm in which user role they’re trying to add you?
