Can I have some help with how to re-size an embedded you tube video?

On desktop our videos are huge, but appear ok on mobile

I’ve followed the WP support pages to the best of my non-developer ability and
    – no re-size handles appear on the video block, so I can’t change the size that way
    – adding a w = XXX dimension to the shortcode doesn’t change the size either

    here’s the html:

thanks in advance for the help

  • Hey there,

Since the Block editor is responsive tot he page size it is not possible to resize the block to a specific size as it would appear different on different devices. There are a few alignment options after selecting the block under Align, though you have already selected the smallest width option None:

If you want to make the video appear smaller on desktop but the same size on mobile, I think using column blocks would be a good workaround.

To set this up, add a Columns block with three columns following our help guide here:

Use the Columns block to insert text, media, and other content into up to six side-by-side columns. When used one after another, the columns create a grid effect. This guide will show you how to create columns on a page. Video Tutorial Working with columns – Transcript 0:00 In this video, we’ll take a look at the Columns block, which you can use to create a grid with up to six column

Once you have added your three columns, you adjust the sizing using the List view. Open the list view by selecting it in the upper left-hand corner. Then select each of your columns to adjust their proportional sizing. I recommend adding percentages that add up to 100%. For example, 20% for the first column, 80% for the middle column, and 20% for the final column.

Then, move your Video block to the middle column to resize it proportionally:

    Hope this helps!
