Not able to remove /blob/ handle from URL.

    Hi there,

I’ve been working on this website for a client of mine, which needs to replace their old site.
I’ve been working with WP for a while, and have also made several other sites for my practices.
Now that i’m done with the design, and make-up of the site in question, i’ve not been able to remove the /blog/ handle before publishing.

Is this because the original website is still live, or is there something else at play?

    Any suggestions are welcome.

  • Hey there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Are you able to confirm the URL of the website that you need assistance with please?

The reason why I ask is because I can see the site: https://nicklijffijttest.wordpress.com/ on the account, but no other site, and I can’t find a reference to a /blog/ handle.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hey Aleone,
Thanks for getting back to me!
The website in question is on a different account, which belongs to the person i’m currently doing business with.

The original website is still live, but upon activating wordpress on their hosting client, it added /blog/ by default to the handle.
Walking through the usual to remove it did not pan out at all.

This sounds like the site in question is NOT hosted with WordPress.com, is that correct?

Darn, yup. Just noticed it’s hosted on Wp.org…
My apologies, if there is anyone still able to help i’d greatly apreciate it regardless!…

  • Since we can’t access the backend of WordPress.org sites, and things work a bit differently here, we are not in the best position to help here. But, you can ask at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/. These are the official support forums for the WordPress software. Folks there should be able to advise better :)
