Not able to switch email address in account to personal email

    I just created this new WordPress account using my work email while simultaneously deleting my old Wix account using my personal email. It’s been a couple weeks since I deleted that one but for some reason, it won’t let me switch my email from my work email to personal on my new account – it is saying the account is still in use, but when I try to log in I’m not able to.

    Is there a way to switch over account access for this email from my work email to my personal email OR, alternatively, reopen the old account and start a new blog there?

    Hi there,

    What is the email that you are wanting to update your account to? I will check to make sure that the email isn’t tied to any other WordPress.com accounts.

    Feel free to share the email in this thread as only staff will be able to view it.

    Hi there,

    I noticed that email was in use recently on another account that was closed. Is it the case that you had another account with this email, and you deleted it so you could use the email address with this account instead?

    One thing to be aware of is that when a user closes their account with us, we don’t purge anything for 30 days. This grace period allows the original owner to recover their account if they change their mind. After 30 days all info is purged, and the email is “freed up” for use on another account.

    For now however, not enough time has passed, so that email address still shows as “taken” in our system. If you are willing to wait a few weeks more however, you will then be able to use that address without issue.

    Hello There! I am new to wordpress and I need my primary site to changed. I am using the app and it shows the correct email, but when I log into the computer it shows a different primary site (one that I do not use). Hoping someone can help me out!
