not able to use child theme after upgrades

  I am a WordPress beginner. I created a custom website using a Child Theme based on OceanWP – it worked ok for 6 months until some of the plugins and parent theme were updated. Afterward, whenever I try to activate the childtheme, the website crashes but it works ok (not great) if I use the parent theme. Please tell me what am I missing?

  I did a lot of modifications on the child theme and I don’t want to lose the work done. I am sure others have had this issue – how did you fix it?

  More specifically, I upgraded Woocommerce and then got a message that templates needed to be updated and the messages went away after I upgraded parent theme. However, the child theme became useless and crashed the website each time I tried to use it. How do I fix it?
