Not all "Likes" show

  • Unknown's avatar

It appears consistently that I have less “Likes” gravatars showing than the number of 14 or 20 likes per blog post. In fact, the “Likes” of gravatars seem to be stuck at 11 or so.

    Any reason? Just curious.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

They recently changed it so that, to see all the gravatar images, you have to click the link with the number that’s below the main strip of images.

ahh– thank you! There is no way one would know that tiny detail. While that saves real estate and clutter, it might encourage some to comment sooner or later?

No idea if it would encourage people to comment more or not, I suspect that’s up to the individual’s idea of what’s right for them.

As for not knowing the tiny detail – it’s a good idea to get into the habit of ‘clicking around’ the page when something changes, to see if there’s something new and what does and doesn’t work. I do that so often on my blog and dashboard that I don’t recall a time I didn’t do it!

    Hello there,
You have found Staff’s brilliant way of reducing page loading time on our blogs by nesting the gravatars of like button clickers behind a link that we can click to see them all.

The reasons why I ♥ love ♥ this change follow.

    1. Gravatars aren’t even linked to blogs. They drive traffic to the gravatar profile pages and many bloggers don’t even enter their blog links on those profile pages at all. I’m sick and tired of clicking into gravatar profile pages only to find the blogger who clicked the like button did not bother to provide their blog links there.

    2. I ♥ love ♥ getting page view stats and comments. Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. See here for what I do to compel readers to read posts on my site > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats

    3. I want my blog s to load quickly. I am happy the big blocks of like clicks that are not representative of actual page view stats are now nicely tucked away, rather than increasing page loading time on my blogs.
