Did you use the correct email? You can check it at account settings. If the email is incorrect, update it and click the Save Account Settings button. There’ll be a message saying that there’s a pending change. Check your inbox for the confirmation email and click the link within to verify your email address.
If none of that works, add “modlook” to the tags for this thread to let WordPress.com staff know that you need assistance with this issue.

Currently, I am also facing this issue and would like to delete an old account that I have, but I am not receiving any emails (be it junk or spam folder) even though my email is definitely the right one.
