Not getting email notifications for blogs I follow via Word press Reader

Hello. Last week, as a non-WP user at the time, I attempted to follow three blogs by entering my mail address on the blogs so that I could get notifications by email when the writers had posted new blog content. I received a message on each site saying a confirmation email had been sent to me with a link which I should click on to activate. I didn’t receive any confirmation emails (neither in my inbox or my junk mail folder and no, I don’t have wordpress.com blocked). I then went on to WordPress and found the screen to request a new activation email. It asked me to enter my email address. I did so, but a message came up saying WordPress couldn’t fetch my activation details as it didn’t have a record of my email address. (This was very curious, as I had entered it on three separate blogs.)
Anyway, in an attempt to rectify all this, I set up a WordPress reader account on Friday 22nd August, went into ‘Edit’ and entered the three URL addresses for the blogs I want to follow. As soon I did so, I finally received confirmation emails with a subscribe link, which I then clicked on to subscribe to each blog.
I haven’t received any email notifications of fresh blog content, so have logged in today to my WordPress Reader and see that two new blog entries have been posted on one of the blogs I subscribed to follow: one on 26th August and one on 27th. I therefore checked my delivery settings. All three blogs are set to send email notifications to me instantly.
Frankly, I’m irritated that I had to set up a WordPress Reader account in the first place just to get subscription links to follow these blogs, so something’s clearly not working right there, but now I have actually set up this account and set up the blogs I want to follow from within it (and dutifully clicked on the subscribe link for each), I’m frustrated that I’m not receiving notification of any new content.
Can someone help me with this?

Hi there. You mention that you’ve checked your spam folder, but if you’re using Gmail the emails could also be redirected to the Social tab of the inbox, so they won’t show in the regular inbox.
Also make sure that you have subscription notifications activated in your account settings, here: https://wordpress.com/settings/notifications/
If you don’t use Gmail and your account settings are right, let me know.

thanks for coming back to me. I don’t have gmail and have just checked my account settings. Subscription delivery is set to ‘Daily Email Delivery’, but I see that for some reason, the box is ticked to ‘Block all email updates from blogs you’re following on WordPress.com’. This may well be the problem! I’ve unticked it and saved the changes and will come back to you in the next few days if this doesn’t solve the problem.
