Not Getting Notifications
-
I used to be subscribed to Watts Up With That and some other WordPress blogs. Then Google did something evil to me, blocked my emails for my own good, so they said, and since then I no longer get any notifications. My email addy is (email visible only to moderators and staff). I hope you can fix this, I miss getting those notifications!
-
Have you tried to subscribe directly to the blogs again? It sounds like you were subscribed via email.
Adding WordPress.com as a contact in your email list may help prevent notifications from reaching spam too.
-
Yes, I have unsubscribed and resubscribed to all my lists on the WordPress site several times. It has not made a difference. Now I can’t even comment! This is most frustrating.
-
OK, thanks for these details. Please share the blog URLs that you’ve not been able to subscribe to and I’ll take a look on our side to see if there’s a problem.
-
This is the main one. Susan Crockford’s Polar Bear blog is another.
Thank you for trying to fix this mess that Google put me in with their Boxbe nonsense.

I’ve checked that your WordPress.com account is subscribed to wattsupwiththat.com. The new post notifications are going to be displayed in your Reader.
Is this the other site you’d like me to check? https://polarbearscience.com/
-
https://polarbearscience.com/, yes, Susan’s site on the bears.
What do you mean, notifications will be displayed in my Reader? I always got them in email directly to my inbox.
I think Google is out to get me!
-
Have you been in touch with Google about the email notifications? Are these notifications in your spam filter?
The Reader is a feature of WordPress.com and is very nifty! When you sign in to WordPress.com click on Reader in the upper left corner, next to My Sites.
Here you’ll find all the new posts for each site that you follow via your WordPress.com account, it’s a news feed that only shows you stuff you have chosen to see :)

Ok, now I am getting notifications of new articles on Reader. But I don’t get comments there.
I had previously checked all the spam boxes and other places where unwanted mail ends up, and I checked again just now, nada from WordPress.
Google really messed me up, it was much more convenient to get stuff directly to my inbox.
Thank you for helping, at least I have a single place to look for things of interest.
-
Have you already tried to resubscribe to the these 2 blogs via their Follow Blog Widgets? Each site has a mention of “Follow by email” in the right hand sidebar. Let me know if that does the trick.

No error messages but also did not get asked for my email address, which I thought was a little odd. I show subscribed, however.

I will probably have to wait for something new to post. I did not get any notifications earlier today.
I used to get notifications every day and comment notifications as they were posted. It looks like that is difficult to do on the page I went to.
Thanks for all your help, maybe we are making progress.
-
I’ll leave this thread open so you can report back on whether or not that setting change allows the email notifications to come through to you.
It will help keep WordPress.com communication out of spam if you add us to your contacts in your email account too.

I was away from my computer for a few days so was unable to let you know that I do seem to be getting notifications now.
Your help was outstanding and you were very patient with me. Thank you very much.
Should things start slipping sideways again, I will let you know right away!

I seem to have a brand new problem, I am not allowed to comment! Is this a glitch in the system? Other people seem able to comment. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
