Not getting password email from WordPress.org

I downloaded WordPress software from WordPress.org, and migrated my wordpress.com blog to be hosted elsewhere. I filled in the registration form for WordPress.org, so I can manage my site, but am not getting the email with password to complete registration. I don’t see a way to contact anyone at WordPress.org, at least not without logging in, which I can’t do. My now very generic looking website is sitting in limbo with no theme while I try to get registered with WordPress.org. Can someone here please help me???

Thank you for your reply. I am aware of the difference between the two as I used to be on WordPress.com and have switched to WordPress.org. The problem was, I had no way of logging in and no way to contact anyone at WordPress.org, so the only thing I could think of was contacting someone at WordPress.com in hopes they could help me. However, I have since figured out my problem and have been able to log in to WordPress.org. Thanks again.

Because your site is self-hosted with a different provider, support staff at WordPress.com do not have access to your site’s files or the ability to provide support for your current issue.
You may want to contact support at HostGator, who seems to be the new host for your site, for more assistance. They are the people who would have access to your site files and be able to help you get your site set up.

Also, using self-hosted WordPress means you have to have a hosting provider to host your website’s files. WordPress.org does not provide that service, so signing up for an account on WordPress.org is not the same as setting up a new installation of WordPress on your HostGator hosting service.
