Not giving real support but ‘public forums’ is bullshit.

  • Unknown's avatar

If I had know WordPress does this I never would have signed up. You don’t even have text-based interactive support. You are the worst.

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi there, please stop creating multiple threads regarding a single issue. I understand that you’re frustrated but this will not increase a response time.

But I also want to point you to the Best Practises and Standards: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/best-practices-community-standards/

Be respectful: Be friendly, patient, and encouraging to all members of our community.

So please do be patient. :)

    Just to clarify:

You don’t even have text-based interactive support.

WordPress.com offers Live Chat and Email support to all customers with a paid plan. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to use the forums, which does require some additional patience but you will receive a response soon.

You auto-renew charged me so I assume that counts as a “paid plan.”

People need to stop putting up with this sociopathic concept of “support” – if a company sends you an email telling you they just took your money they have a freaking DUTY to provide a direct number. This is ridiculous. I am so done with WordPress.

Since I never used this “public forum” pseudo-support system I didn’t know how it worked and now I see I can’t delete any of my other message. Because of course.

    Hi again,

To clarify, I’m just a volunteer here and don’t have access to anything like that; such matters need to be dealt with by a staff member.

WordPress.com doesn’t have phone support as they are not in a call centre, so therefore they cannot provide you with a phone number.

If you have a paid plan, you’re welcome to start a chat or an email at https://wordpress.com/help/contact

WOW it’s even worse than I realized. They don’t even PAY their first level support. That is disgusting.

And this is the most ridiculous explanation ever: “WordPress.com doesn’t have phone support as they are not in a call centre, so therefore they cannot provide you with a phone number.”

Oh. I see. So WordPress is HELPLESS because they aren’t a “call centre.” Wow WordPress just keeps looking worse and worse. SO glad I’m getting out. Somebody is getting rich while providing an absolutely obscene “support” system.

  • Unknown's avatar

    I’m not sure I follow?

This issue will be resolved with patience when a staff member is available (it is the weekend currently so response times may be slower than normal), but I’m afraid that creating multiple threads and being rude won’t speed that up.

And FYI – the link you provided just goes back to the “public forum” form. So I was charged $48 by WordPress and for that I don’t get anything but a public forum where people who for some inexplicable reason volunteer to help make rich people richer.

Yeah well I’m sorry I can’t be rude directly to the rich people running this BS operation. But your VOLUNTEERED to help make rich people richer so I can’t feel that bad for you – it’s not your job, you just enjoy doing it for free apparently.

Do you have any idea how rich the WordPress people are?

That probably suggests you don’t have a paid plan. I’m not sure I understand the full details of the scenario you cite, so it’s probably best to wait for staff intervention.

If you do have a paid plan, potentially you’re signed into the wrong account? Your account which you’re posting from is fairly new. Could you please confirm the site address of the purchase? If you’re not certain, you can use https://wpchrg.wordpress.com to find out.

I guess none of my complaints are of interest to the WordPress bigwigs – clearly their business model doesn’t depend of providing good customer support so why should they care if someone complains about it? It’s more important not to be “rude” for the volunteers.

I’m done. I just can’t believe anybody would VOLUNTEER for this gang of plutocrats much less pay money for the service. What a racket.

Hello there, I’ve closed your other forum threads so we can keep all support in one place, in this thread.

Kindly be mindful of your tone. We are mostly a community support forum and we will flag a thread for Staff assistance if we cannot help you resolve the question you are asking. This thread is already tagged for Staff attention.

But lets start with the basics. The account you are posting from is less than an hour old. What is the WordPress.com website that renewed and for which you are requesting a refund?

  • Unknown's avatar

It’s not your job, you just enjoy doing it for free apparently

Indeed, but I don’t see how that or the Wikipedia page you cited is relevant. I understand you’re frustrated, and that’s what this forum intends to resolve. WordPress.com has no ill intent, but the community standards I linked makes it easier for everybody, including yourself. :)

Here’s the email I just got (see below.) I looked at my bank account online and sure enough, WordPress has a pending authorization there.

I signed up for WordPress a year ago and then hardly used it. Then I’m hit with a $48 automatic renewal charge and am told there’s nobody who works for the company I can talk to and instead am given a form to send a message to a public forum.

I have to laugh at the whole school marm tone from you volunteers though – ooh the thread has been tagged for Staff attention! Will this go down on my permanent record?

    I’ll be expecting a refund.

Enjoy your life volunteering to help rich people get richer.

Oh and the idea to call volunteers in a public forum “Happiness Engineers” is a brilliant stroke of Newspeak genius.

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello again. I explained why your thread is tagged for Staff, in order to assist you in resolving this issue.

And thank you for providing the site address mcclernanblog.wordpress.com

I’ve also redacted the financial information from your above reply since you are posting in a public forum.

Please wait now for Staff to respond. Thanks. As @torres126 mentioned, things may be a little slower on the weekend.

    Cheers.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi again,

Please don’t post personal information such as transaction IDs in a public forum, since they can be used to gain access to your account. I’ve tagged staff to redact them.

I notice that the site linked is mcclernanblog.wordpress.com though. That site seems to be owned by the account nancymcclernan, so you’re likely signed into the wrong account. Please could you post from that account in this thread.

If you’ve forgotten the details, you can follow the Account Recovery process: https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

All WordPress.com plans tend to renew annually, and you should’ve received an email informing you when this renewal was approaching.

Also, to clarify, volunteers aren’t the ones being referred to as Happiness Engineers; that title belongs to staff members.

As already stated, they’ve been tagged, but you’ll likely need to be signed into the correct account in order to reach the solution you’re looking for.

Oops, sorry for the overlap @justjennifer! :)

  • Unknown's avatar

Since Staff involvement is required here, I’ll go ahead and close this thread to further replies. They will respond when they look in on this thread and determine whether further assistance is needed.

    Cheers all. And thanks @torres126
