    wow, where to start?

now, that we write a wordpressblog during our trip around the world, no day goes by without being a bit cross with our blog.

lots of things that could be approved.

sadly our first e-mail with feedback has never been answered from wordpress, but we try again.

we should mention that we write our block using a tablet – but then again, who travels around the world with a pc?

we doubt that wordpress has been tested sufficiently on tablets, be it with the app or using the website via browser.

so here’s what is worst about using wordpress on a tablet, both via app and via website:

    1) only one pic after the other can be uploaded. that alone means hours of time, if you travel in a country with weak internet.

in our case it takes us about three hours a day. believe me, nobody wants to spend that much of their holidays time to share pics and diaries with friends and family at home.mit’s just way too long. we could prepare most of our daily blog somewhere on the road and upload it later, when we have internet in the hotel, in the late evening. but to shuffle the pictures from our album into the blog you have to be online.mwhich is really really annoying. would make things so much easier, if the whole thing could be uploaded when it’s complete and all the work before that could be done offline.

    2) we always get the feedback from home that it’s mostly impossible to write comments. instead it keeps saying “oops, this page couldn’t be found. it seems, nothing was found on this page etc”

believe us, when you take such an effort to write a daily blog on the other side of the world you at least want to have the feeling, someone reads it – which would only be proven with comments.

    3) the app crashes all the time. at least once a day. then it shows all empty for the rest of the day. literally NOTHING except a clear blue site.

it lasts at least a day before it can be used again.

yes, we sent a crash report. but never heard of you.

we then have to use the website to go on with our blog – but that’s even less convenient than the app.

    4) when you add pictures, there are alwys set at the end of the blog, never where the cursor stands. which makes it additionally streniuous to shuffle them to the right place.

    5) the statistic shown is definitely wrong. in our case it shows that our blig is been read once a day and lots of e-mails of friends and family prove that this is wrong.

there’s so much more that makes us angry with wordpress every day, but those are the most important points.

please don’t get us wrong. we appreciate it a lot, that you offer a free blog here, we really do. but then again who would buy the blog if the free one doesn’t work properly? we certainly won’t before things work the way they make our lives easier than more difficult.

we urgently ask you: grab a tab, give it a try – and we will have all of your sympathy immediately – trust us!

thank you so much for answering and not just give us the impression we are being ignored.

we wish you a marvellous prosperous happy healthy new year – all of you!

    kindest,

Hi. Unfortunate the your vacation has been marred by the issues you’ve described.
In order to assist you better it would be very helpful if you could provide the following specific additional information:

    a. What is the mobile device you are using?
    b. What WordPress app or apps are you using to connect this mobile device to your website?
    c. Are you downloading your images directly from the device to your Website media library?

    1) only one pic after the other can be uploaded. that alone means hours of time, if you travel in a country with weak internet.

Checking images found on your front page, randomly, I soon discovered that all were huge. Those I checked range in size from 1.65 to over 3 MB. This might be the primary reason you can only upload one image at a time.

    2, 3, and 4.) — see above

Excessive image size may be a principal factor in each of these issues:
    2. image or post failing to load errors.
    3. App crashing frequently and failing to work for long periods.
    4. Misplacement of uploaded images.

    5) the statistic shown is definitely wrong. in our case it shows that our [blog] is been read once a day and lots of e-mails of friends and family prove that this is wrong.

I’ll defer this last issue to others who may make further attempts to analyze the issues you’ve described, and elucidate possible reasons for their occurrence, and suggest remedies.

So, don’t use the app. Use the browser.

@ musicdoc1: so many thanks for your answers. I just realize that you might not jave received my answer on your questions, at least it doesn’t show up here, have you? gosh, wordpress is really … well, it takes a lot of patience.

@ raincoaster: this wasn’t helpful at all, sorry. I meanwhile can’t use the app any more, it just won’t open. :-( I don’t risk to delete it to reinstall it, as it says, it will delete all my data as well.

You have a browser on your tablet somewhere. Using it will completely eliminate the app crashing problem.

    Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to let us know exactly where the pain points are in using the mobile app and mobile browser to blog on a daily basis. We are constantly working to improve the apps and feedback like this really helps us do that.

Just to be clear, it looks like you are using an Ipad as your tablet. is that correct?

only one pic after the other can be uploaded. that alone means hours of time, if you travel in a country with weak internet.

If you are adding images from your iPad directly to your post, you can add several at a time by choosing more than one photo before you click done.

The process is to click the image button in the lower right corner of the posting window (you may have to click the keyboard button on the right side to minimize the keyboard before you can see the image icon). Then choose all the photos you want to be in the post at one time. Once you click done, they should all load at the same time.

Let me know if it works differently for you.

we could prepare most of our daily blog somewhere on the road and upload it later, when we have internet in the hotel, in the late evening. but to shuffle the pictures from our album into the blog you have to be online.mwhich is really really annoying. would make things so much easier, if the whole thing could be uploaded when it’s complete and all the work before that could be done offline.

Offline editing is a good suggestion. I can’t make any promises, but I’ll add this idea to the feature requests list.

we always get the feedback from home that it’s mostly impossible to write comments. instead it keeps saying “oops, this page couldn’t be found. it seems, nothing was found on this page etc”

Could you tell me more about this? It sounds like your friends who are at home are having a hard time leaving comments on your site. Could you tell me where in the process the failure occurs? On your posts that allow comments, I’m able to see the whole post and the comment box. I’m able to type a comment, but I didn’t try to submit it. Let me know if that’s where the system breaks and I can test again.

Note: If your friends are having a hard time getting the posts to load at all, that could be about having too many large photos in each post. That can make posts load slowly, or not at all, for some readers.

This is frustrating. I know you’ve already submitted a report about it, but I do know how annoying it is when you are trying to work and the tool fails.

    4) when you add pictures, there are alwys set at the end of the blog, never where the cursor stands. which makes it additionally streniuous to shuffle them to the right place.

This is how the app works for now. Could you change your process so you add the photos at the beginning and then write the text around them? It might be hard to get used to at first, but it would be easier than trying to move the photos around after the fact.

    5) the statistic shown is definitely wrong. in our case it shows that our blig is been read once a day and lots of e-mails of friends and family prove that this is wrong.

I’m seeing more than one visitor a day on your stats, so maybe this piece has resolved itself?

Also keep in mind that if your friends read the posts in e-mail or in the reader, they won’t be counted in your stats. The only visits that get counted are when people visit your site directly.

Thanks again for providing such detailed feedback. It really does help us make the mobile experience better for everyone!
