not possible to select parent site

I’m really struggling. My WP site is almost ready to launch, but the checkbox where you choose parent site is not there.. I’m also missing some other part of the normal features in the settings-> reading menu . What can I do? I’m running several WP sites and have never experienced this issue and cant figure out what’s wrong. Please can anyone help me?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hi there – Can you tell us a little more about what you’re wanting to accomplish by launching this site? I’m asking for this specifically because you mention you want to choose a parent site. That, along with the fact you have “several WP sites” tells me you may have another website host elsewhere for those sites and that may be making this more confusing.

Give us an idea of what you’re working with and what you’re trying to accomplish and we’ll use that to try to help you get this sorted out. Thanks! :)

Hi – First of all, sorry for my typo. Ill try to explain it better. I work as a web designer and has made several new web sites for different businesses. None of these sites has anything with each other to do. In this case with yet another new website for a customer I can see there is some options missing and I cant figure out why. My typo was that I cant set parent page (not parent site). On all the other sites I have a parent checkbox option in the quick edit on each page. But not for this new website. The writing parent is there but not the checkbox. So I can not choose the front page for this web site. What can i do?

Also if I navigate to Dashboard > Settings > Reading I find that the entire top section is missing. Does this has something to do with it? And how may I fix that?

I have tried to deactivate all plugins and also tried to change theme if this could mess up something. But still no parent page option. The site is updated to the newest WP upgrade. Except these to things the rest (as I can see) looks to be good.

I so appreciate all help. I’m feeling really lost here.

Can you let us know what the URL is for the site you’re having trouble with?

NOTE: We can only assist with websites hosted here at WordPress.com. If you’re using the WordPress software, but hosted elsewhere, you will need to reach out to your hosting provider or the WordPress.org community for guidance:

    Thanks!

    Hi
Off course. It’s http://www.mokkis.no. So does that mean I have to go to WordPress.org to get advises?

  • Thanks for confirming. As helper-heroponriki was thinking, We’re limited in how we can help because we don’t actually host your site on WordPress.com. Your host (Domainshop) uses a different version of the WordPress platform and we don’t have access to your server files.

Because of this we’re not able to troubleshoot, but it is possible to get help here at the link mentioned above: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting

Because there are some coding differences between the open source version of WordPress and the custom version we use on WordPress.com we are not sure what is up with your site, but they would be in the best position to get to the bottom of that.

Hope this helps point you in the right direction!

Thanks for leading me the correct direction. Hard cord trubble shooting isn’t my table at all. Thanks for your advice.

    Cheers Monica
