Not receiving confirmation email
-
Hello, I recently registered a blog domain on WordPress.com. I am using the on-site manager, not downloaded. Before I am allowed to post I am being asked to open my confirmation email but it is not appearing. I have waited two days, and sent it at least 6+ times. I use Gmail and yes I checked my Spam and Social.
I hope this can be resolved quickly as I want to begin publishing posts to my new blog. Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

I have already subscribed to this thread for emails, but those ones are not appearing either. Obviously, WordPress is having troubles communicating with my Gmail account.

I reviewed your livelearningcurve WordPress.com account, and it looks like you had included several dots in your email address.
Dots are ignored by Gmail:
https://support.google.com/mail/answer/10313?hl=enI bet all those extra dots are the cause of the trouble. I modified your email address to take the dots out since they are only used for show at Gmail and your email address is more technically correct without them. Can you try re-triggering the confirmation again now and let me know if it still doesn’t work?
-
That is strange, I have never had an issue with dots in my address in the past. I was able to receive the notification from the post in your topic after you changed my address, but still am not able to receive the account confirmation email.

It could be that WordPress.com has just never encountered the multiple dot problem before. :) But that’s really a guess on my part to be honest. This is the first time I’ve ever seen an email like that, so I’m not sure whether or not other people run into this issue. If it comes up again, we can look into it in more detail then.
I sent a separate email to try to do the account confirmation another way.

Thank you, your activation that you sent worked. Periods used in Gmail accounts was fairly common I thought, and I have never run into this issue before.
-
To be clear, it seems I am receiving all other emails from WordPress (including Welcome, this thread and Support) but that one I was asked to trigger. The period issue accounted for all but that one email. I would recommend forwarding this issue to a technician so it can be examined.

Now I have encountered another problem. Last night I wrote and saved as a draft a long first post when I was waiting for my email. I am sure it saved as a draft and autosaved as well, but it has disappeared! Very discouraging to have this happen obviously. I have tried finding the old cached page of a preview but nothing is showing up any more.
Is there any way of recovering this lost draft? I was even looking at it earlier today before I clicked the confirmation email with a draft and preview. Can you please look into this for me? I am getting really frustrated with this.

I have searched all through my own history and cache and can find no trace of my old blog post..one that I previewed several times and had saved and ready to post once my account got activated. I would be really disappointed if it had been deleted for seemingly no reason as it was 700+ words long. I don’t know if any staff or technicians here have access to cached copies of pages, but I would very much appreciate if you check for me. The title of the post was “Ride the Learning Curve”. Please look into this if at all possible.

And keep in mind that was a guess on my part. It does seem like taking them out worked though. I’ve seen people use one period in a gmail address before, but not several.

I looked everywhere I could think of, and I’m so sorry but I couldn’t find that post.
I see a different draft but it looks like something that you might have created as a test after you lost the first one:
