Not receiving email reset
-
I have created a new WP account to ask this question.
I have set up a WP.org account and am building my site. I want to use jetpack and when I link to WP.com, I am informed that there is already an account linked to my email – guy[at]guybutters[dot]com.
When I request a password reset, it does not arrive. (I have checked the spam and junk folders too.)
When I try typing the same email address into the “Resend Activation Mail” box on the support/contact page, I get this message “We were unable to fetch your activation record. Are you sure you specified the email address you signed up with?”
Weird and extremely frustrating – please help!

I have sent a new password to the email address on the account.
Please let us know if you received it.

Hooray. That arrived! Any idea why the others didn’t? I have reset now.
Thank you.
Is there a way my email address can be hidden from the original post, please?
-
Interestingly, when updating my profile and taken to Gravatar, I see that there is another email/identity attached to my profile – ‘akismet-8a2bdebe9c103ef5b600a8e13ab43c72!’. Have I been hacked?

Continued – the akismet-8a2bdebe9c103ef5b600a8e13ab43c72 name is on my WP profile too. Has my ID been stolen? Is that why I had trouble resetting?
-
No, that just means that you signed up for a Gravatar before Gravatar and WordPress.com were merged.
Since Gravatar never used usernames, you have that weird looking thing instead now.
You can safely change it to something else.
