Hi again @elcristofue. Unfortunately the problem has come back. It was fine for a couple of months but happened again today when I logged in to the older blog and then back into this one. The SMS code never came in. Thankfully I managed to log in with a backup code. I was using a VPN at the time this happened. Could this be the reason? Any help appreciated as I’m scared to log out again! Thank you!
FYI: I tried replying to the old thread but it wouldn’t let me, even though it said I could, hence this post.

Thanks @staartmees, I’d rather not use an app at this stage. I’ll wait to see if WordPress staff can detect an issue with my accounts.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with the SMS codes again. Using a VPN can sometimes cause issues with receiving SMS due to changes in network settings or location. It might be a good idea to switch to an authenticator app for two-factor authentication, as it doesn’t rely on messages and is generally more reliable.
Since you’ve managed to log in with a backup code, I’d recommend setting up the authenticator app now to avoid this problem in the future. You can refer to this guide to set up the authenticator app on your phone:

If you don’t receive SMS, in 99% of cases this is because your telecom operator is blocking them. They already adviced you in a previous thread – https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/not-receiving-sms-verification-two-accounts-one-phone-number/ – to use the app instead of sms.

Thanks @adusman402, it’s interesting to know about the VPN possibly interfering. I’ll look into the authentication apps in the next few days as I have an important medical appointment very soon and need to prepare for that. Would it be possible to leave this thread open please until the end of the week in case I do need more assistance with that? I’d really appreciate that. Thank you for your quick response. Hi again @adusman402. The problem seems to have once again fixed itself after waiting a few days, so fingers crossed all will stay that way. If I come across issues again I’ll download an authentication app and use that instead. Thanks so much for your help ☺️
