Not recognizing user name, no access to Admin page for 3 weeks!

WP is totally screwed up. It no longer recognizes my email or user name, so I cannot seek help and I cannot post for help for my bigger question, which is that I get 404 PAGE NOT FOUND when I try to access my admin page. Extremely frustrating.

FYI further info to issue above: A tech friend tried this to no impact. “I tried the first steps that WP recommends: disable plugins and themes and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then reactivate plugins and themes one by one to see which one brings back the problem. My disabling of the plugins and themes had no effect. The problem remained.”
I also erased caches and history, etc.as suggested, and all it did is create headaches for me to re-enter all the websites whose passwords had to be recreated.
It is totally unsat for a small website like ours – run by a journalist, not a techie – to have to deal with this situation that seems to be caused by WP update. WP should fix it.

I cannot log in at that link to ask my question, it does not recognize my username and the password I have been using for several years. I just tried again. How is this possible?

Hi there, I do understand your frustration. Bear in mind that you are using the free open source self-hosted version of WordPress, you need to post in the WordPress.org forum for assistance, you can follow this link to the forum: https://wordpress.org/support

This forum is dedicated to WordPress.com hosted websites.Either way. how did you deactivate an reactivate the plugins? Can you access the site with JetPack connection through WordPress.com Dashboard?
If you deactivated the plugins/theme by renaming the files, and that did not help then you could ask your hosting provider to restore a backup of when it was still working.
