! Not Secure ! Warning on our site
-
Hi,
Our site has been displaying a ‘Note Secure!’ warning for some time now. I even went and bought an SSL Certificate from GoDaddy in trying to fix the problem. Turns out, I don’t believe I even can or should install one with the free site that I have.
We’re a fledgling non-profit and I want to ‘return’ the SSL and use the credit for other things. Can you help me figure out why waimahaihai.org comes up with the ‘Not Secure’ warning on multiple browsers?
Thanks.

Hello there,
As for SSL, you’ll need to contact your host since WordPress.com has no control over sites hosted elsewhere.

I’m just a plebeian with domain and hosting stuff, but from what I can figure, I registered the domain at GoDaddy.com and the DNS points to my free WordPress site: waimahaihai.wordpress.com. The following FAQ tells me WordPress itself should include an SSL Certificate. WordPress is my host:
The above website doesn’t tell me what to do should WordPress fail to 301 redirect all insecure HTTP requests to the secure HTTPS version. And fail it does.
So, is it some setting that I have failed to include when I built the free site? Or some failure on my part with specifying a DNS forwarding address in the GoDaddy domain control panel?
Thanks for the help. I’m stumped.

Turns out, I was able to fix the problem by going into the Domain forwarding and do a permanent 301 redirect to the https:// site. I’m all good now.
This matter is closed. Thank you!
