not seeing the orange notifications of likes and follows

why am I not seeing notifications on the wordpress top line (next to my gravatar) of likes and new follows?? There is a message icon that would turn orange to inform me of new follows or likes, stopped working from 3 days ago. I have to check my email to be informed. My blog is– quiescentbeing.wordpress.com
