  • Hi there,

I’ve taken the time to look into your website and noticed that it’s actually using the WordPress.org software and is hosted by a different provider.

WordPress.org is the same foundational software we use here at WordPress.com, but it’s set up a little differently. Because of this, the specific help you may need can be different. To get the most appropriate help for your issue, I’d recommend posting your question in the official WordPress.org support forums, which you can find here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/.

That said, I would also like to mention an alternative for you. You can migrate your website to WordPress.com. We are a managed-hosting platform, which means we take care of all the maintenance and security tasks so that you can focus on creating content for your website. We also offer dedicated WordPress support through both email and live chat to ensure your questions or issues are handled promptly and efficiently.

If this sounds like something that could interest you, we’ve built an easy-to-use tool specifically for migrating WordPress sites from other platforms to WordPress.com. You can learn more about how to use this tool here: https://wordpress.com/support/import-using-move-to-wordpress-com/

You can also take a look at our various plans and what they offer on this page: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

If you have any other questions or if there’s anything else you’d like to discuss, don’t hesitate to let me know.

    Hello

Thansk so much for the response and locating my website… I have just tried to log into WordPress.org and it wont let me use my email or username… so if you are able to help me with tracking down and changing the website to wordpress.com rather than org that would be amazing….. i would want to have reassurance all information and all data/ links/ images and the work i have worked on doesn’t get lost?

My issue atm is that i don’t seem to be able to get in due to my email not being found, yet i am still receiving emails from WordPress to the email address i am using … Its all a little confusing

“I have just tried to log into WordPress.org and it wont let me use my email or username… “

To avoid any confusion, let’s break down the different versions of “WordPress”:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software that powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org, where you can download the software for free to use on your chosen hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com, a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software, the platform you’re contacting.

Since WordPress.org is simply the source for downloading the software and not a hosting provider, the login credentials you used for your website won’t apply there. It sounds like your hosting plan might have expired.

By checking your domain’s DNS history (https://completedns.com/dns-history/), it appears that the most recent domain nameservers were with Siteground. I recommend reaching out to them as soon as possible. Hopefully, they still have backups of your site that can be restored. You can find their support options here: https://www.siteground.com/support

I hope this clears things up! Let me know if you have any questions or need further assistance.

I forgot to add: Once Siteground can get your site back online, we’ll be more than happy to help you migrate your site here so you can use the benefits of hosting your site with us: security, support, etc.
