Not showing post title on home page in Coraline
-
I use split posts on my home page and the last few posts have been missing the title. Previously, I had to go in and rewrite the title and resubmit it. This seems to work, but what a pain!
Also, this post has a light grey bar to the left that makes it look like an aside, but I’ve triple checked that it’s a standard.
I’m wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how do I make it stop?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
I see you are using the Coraline theme. I have not encountered this problem and cannot provide any help. Hopefully, another Volunteer or Staff can. -
The posts without titles have been set with a post type of “aside” which is for short status type updates and it does not show the title.
Edit the posts and in the post type module, select “standard” as the post type and then click “update.”

As I mentioned in my query, it’s not marked as an aside post – it’s a standard. I triple checked that before I posted here.
I just went in again and tried fooling it by changing it to an aside, then to a gallery, then back to standard, but the only time the title showed up was when I made it a gallery post.
And rewriting the title hasn’t worked either. This is frustrating…

This requires staff attention, as it’s probably a bug. The sourcecode starts like this:
<div id="post-1545" class="post-1545 post type-post status-publish format-standard hentry category-features category-garden-gate category-zingers tag-freezing-herbs tag-herb-cubes tag-herbs tag-how-to tag-jill-henderson tag-keep-fresh tag-kitchen tag-preserve tag-show-me-oz tag-the-healing-power-of-kitchen-herbs"> <div class="entry-content aside">If the post was an aside it shouldn’t say “format-standard”, and if it was a standard post it shouldn’t say “aside” (and the post title and metadata should show up in between these two tags.).

Thanks panag. I looked in the HTML for the line of code you describe, but I don’t see it. Even a search using parts of the line you describe came up with no matches. When I open the post in (WP) HTML this is the first line I see:
align=”justify”><img class=”alignleft” style=”margin-top: 4px; margin-bottom: 4px;” src=”http://mrg.bz/raSKbm” alt=”” width=”175″ height=”159″ align=”left” />By Jill Henderson</p>
The good thing is that somehow, someway it has been fixed – the bad thing is support is gone until the 15th. I guess a few more days won’t kill me…lol.

Your welcome.
I didn’t mean the HTML you can see in your editor, I meant the HTML of your whole blog. You can see that if you select View Source form the View menu of your browser.

Oh, I get it. Sorry, I’m not real good at that sort of thing. I’ll check it out. Thanks!

Hi, Jill. It looks like it’s all sorted out now but it appears as if your posts were posted in your Aside category. Coraline was originally developed before we had Post Formats available and provided the option of choosing a specific category for mimicking that behavior.
Glad to see it’s sorted. Let us know if you run into any other theme wonkiness.
