Not showing up in Search Engines

  • Unknown's avatar

I created the following site over a week ago http://akungescapades.wordpress.com/

Aside from none of the content showing up on any of the search engines, neither does the domain name. Yahoo even states it does not exist.

I have ticked the box that states make available but still nothing. I read that it takes time for blogs to appear in a search engines database, but on the same day I created my blog here a friend created one on travellerspoint.com and it appeared within a few hours on google/yahoo

    Please advise

Search Engine indexing takes from hours up to several weeks. Did you make sure your blog is not set to private?

The ONLY link going out of that blog is going to a stat counter. And you’re using only one tag per post, and no categories at all. If you want to get indexed by search engines, link out a lot. Categorize and tag appropriately (no more than 12 per post). That will cause people to want to link to you. If you exist completely in isolation, search engines can’t be bothered with you; they reward you for interconnectedness.

    Thanks for the replies.

By private do you mean in the users settings when it asks you to share with searchengines etc? Yes I selected it to share with search engines.

I understand about the links and needing more. I still don’t understand when i directly type into a search engine my url http://akungescapades.wordpress.com/ why it does not show up compared to my friend on travellerspoint who has only one page as well and it showed up in 2 hours?!!

I don’t want the biggest blog in the world, but is nice if you can tell someone just type in akungescapades into google and it will take you there.

It does not show up because you’re not active enough to get on Google’s radar ahead of schedule. It can take up to six weeks to get indexed by Google, and the fewer links into and out of a blog (I mean, you don’t even have a blogroll!) the lower priority you are to Google. Essentially, link activity means you get put at the head of the line. Your situation just means you’ll have to wait your turn. Can still be awhile.
