    Although I guess I signed up some time back, I’m doing this now to satisfy a school assignment. Have had my Domain for about 20 years as basically a family thing. Want cheapest way.

    I’m not exactly sure I understand your question but it sounds like you are trying to set up a site with a custom domain, yes?

    We do not offer a way to set a custom address for our free sites (those use the wordpress.com URL by default) but you can upgrade to any of our plans listed here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    If you choose the yearly (not monthly) option of any plan, it will include a custom domain free for the first year. Of the ones listed there the Personal plan is the lowest cost option and should be sufficient for you since you are just starting out.
