Not Sure If Its One For You?

    A bizarre incident.
I put a link to my WordPress on a (bio) on social media and when I checked my WordPress stats, it showed a view had come from the site link in my bio. However, my profile is set to ‘private’ and the user ID was nobody on my list of followers. So, how did tbey manage to see or click the link?

When I checked it later, the user could not be found.
    I did take a screenshot.

Is this something WordPress can do anything about?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @mercedesblak, so you’re saying the bio is private but somehow you have a click from it?

We can’t do much about the a third party site’s privacy or lack thereof.

I can say, though, from my experience: sometimes sites like that will load up a “preview” of your site. If they do that might be the visit you’re seeing. Or if you yourself clicked the link from your bio while logged out here, that would count as a visit.

It wasn’t me. When I clicked on it to see who it was from, it came up with a username. It was an oriental name. When I clicked it again later to show somebody, it said ‘ User not found’.

Also, somebody did hack my main part of my blog over Christmas and removed some content.
I haven’t used it since as it is technically a crime scene.
Not enough is done to challenge or punish these cyber crimes.
The last thing any business wants to admit is when they are under attack because it scares users/customers away.

Is this for your site at mercedesblak.wordpress.com? You can check your site’s Activity tab to see if there was an unknown log in to your site. Free site Activity is from the past 30 days.

    Thanks!
Looking at my activity, all edits are looking to be made by Administrator.

I’m looking on Android app and the information is limited.
I suppose a good hack would leave no trail.
Content was certainly removed and certain small edits are being made which I then have to go in and change. I have not added content to the blog since it happened.
Cyber wars. That’s what I conclude.
My ISP are the only provider out there actually doing something constructive to help,

The phone hacking Inquiry was the catalyst for it. It will come to the US soon and elsewhere until the influence behind the negative dominance is eradicated. Good people lose out because of a bitter few.
Luckily, I am in a position to get something done about it.

If you are that suspicious, I would advice to use a strong password and activate 2FA.

    Thanks Staartmees.

    I’ll check out 2 FA.
