Not sure of order of domain mapping and blog title
-
I’m starting a new blog on WP.com with the aim of being more like a website.
I already have the domain name registered.
Can I title the new blog by (domain name).wordpress.com and after I finish building the site use domain mapping to point the registered name to WP?
My objective is to drop “wordpress” out of the web title.
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. Yes, you can do that: create a blog first (__.wordpress.com) then map it to your existing domain. That’s exactly what I did.

You may want to wait until staff are back from their brainstorming sessions (on August 15) in case there are any hiccups. -
Thanks for that.
Hiccups? Oh no! I’m all ready to start today. Do you think these hiccups could impact on the whole domain mapping thing?

It’s just that I have seen cases of people registering a domain name, say thisismydomainname.com, and finding that it’s not their existing blog that is mapped there, but a newly created blog called thisismydomainnamedotcom.wordpress.com.
But then again, that’s when they registered a domain name. You already registered your domain name, so hopefully the chances of that happening to you are nil.
Staff does check these forums regularly even if they are away.
