Hi there, my domain jesscornelius.com is registered through godaddy and the website connected to it is hosted by squarespace. But I seem to have this setup where I have a ‘domain connection’ through WordPress for $13 per year. What is that for and what is affected if I cancel it? Thanks you

Hi! Sorry, I’m seeing this in WordPress. It seems that I have WordPress page jesscornelius434037093.wordpress.com (that I don’t use) and this is somehow connected to my domain jesscornelius.com, although it’s not actually USING the domain, if that makes sense? The domain is being used for my squarespace website.
I can’t delete the site jesscornelius434037093.wordpress.com even though I want to, because it says there is an ‘upgrade’ attached to it. I just want to make sure that cancelling this upgrade won’t affect my squarespace site connected to my jesscornelius.com domain. When I look on my Squarespace account, it says my domain provider is ‘WordPress’. However, my domain is registered with GoDaddy.
On WordPress, it says my jesscornelius.com domain is hosted by an external provider. The CName records point it to squarespace.

I think it will not affect it , because the domain is yours and it is connected to squarespace , eventhough you cancel it , you are cancelling the webspace that wordpress thinks it is connected to your domain (which is not). if you remove the subscription and your site does not function , you will have to configure dns records again (link your domain to squarespace like you did before ). anyways , the 13$ you are paying for is for the wordpress space and not the domain ,but keep in mind that you will still have to pay domain yearly fee (i guess that is obv). let me know how it went.

wait : check this https://wordpress.com/me/purchases , cancel the upgrade if there is any from this link , and not from the cancel subscription ,to avoid interfering with the domain.

A domain connection is used when you own a domain with another provider and wish to use it with your WordPress.com site. Since jesscornelius.com is not in use with a WordPress.com site, it’s no longer needed. I see that you’ve already canceled the domain connection for this domain.
