not sure what is going on here

I am being prompted by WP to set up a sub-domain. I don;t have a need for a sub-domain. Also my site is hosted with siteground and the build was with Wp using Divi themes. It is live and working fine. Am I missing something here or is WP just trying to get me to transfer my domain with them and for me to pay for a subscription service I do not need? It is peculiar because if I login to my site through WP.com it is slightly different than as if I went to my login through siteground.com and click through to my WP dashboard form there. I am confuaed as to if I am missing steps or something in order for my site to function properly? It appears to be ok on the frontend.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    Hello hello!

That is peculiar! Can you describe what you mean by WP prompting you to set up a sub-domain? I ask this because as far as your SiteGround website is concerned, WordPress.com is uninvolved and has no access.

WordPress.com is a managed hosting service, where users can have their website hosted and pay for a multitude of services.

Meanwhile, your SiteGround-hosted website is using the open-source WordPress Software.

WordPress.com and SiteGround are separate hosting platforms; one cannot log into WordPress.com to modify their website in SiteGround. The data are in entirely separate locations, largely unrelated to each other. That’d be like going to Japan to take a photo with the pyramids in Egypt. (Which would be an impressive feat if done!)

So it is strange that you are receiving WordPress.com prompts! May I ask you to describe the prompts?

Either way, I suspect that your site is fine and will function properly! Though, pinpointing the cause of this can help with addressing any unwanted spam.
