Nothing I Like stays liked
-
I just realized since March nothing I liked stayed liked. I’ve tried clearing my cookies and site data and switching my browser already with no improvement and I’m not sure what else to do. I’m using the Google Chrome app for iPhone and I already checked to make sure it was updated.

hi,
I’ve the same problem.
I’ve got no answers from the French forum, so I try here.
I can like blogs, but the like button on commentry” just gives me a flash of an empty WP window. -
Hi @thesolitaryblackcatcafe can you tell us a bit more about the behaviour you are seeing? When you click the like button does it appear to show that you liked it, but appears as un-liked? Or do you click the button and nothing happens?
Also you mentioned you are on a mobile device. Is the issue the same if you try on your desktop computer? Thanks for the additional info!

@bordeauxrouge, could you start a new topic here?
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1You can add a “modlook” tag if you’d like to get staff attention.
Even though you sound to have the same issue, the troubleshooting steps we may have you go through (and the underlying cause itself) may be different. To avoid confusion it will help if you start your own thread, and on our end staff will track both issues, thanks!

When I initially like it shows “you and x number of people liked this” but when I go back and revisit the post or refresh the the page I don’t show up as having liked it. It also doesn’t register under the list of things I’ve liked on my home WordPress. I went ahead and double checked now and I’m having the same issue on my laptop too.
-
Does this happen in every post you like or only in some? Can you please share a few posts where this occured recently so I can have a look?
-
Every post. These are the most recent posts I’ve tried liking.

Thanks for clarifying. Usually, when an issue like this occurs, it can be traced to an expired (or broken) login auth cookie stored on your local web browser. With this in mind I would like you to try the following
– clear your cache and cookies based on the steps Apple recommends here: https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/clear-your-browsing-history-sfri47acf5d6/mac
– Also make sure the “block all cookies” setting is un-checked under Safari > Settings > Privacy
– If you continue to have issues liking posts after completing those steps, I would like you to try another browser instead, like Firefox or Chrome. Are you able to proceed if you use a browser other than Safari? Thanks for the additional info!
-
@thesolitaryblackcatcafe – just wanted to check in to see if the steps we recommended solved the issue for you.
-
No, it still doesn’t work. I already tried clearing my cache, cookies, and browser history before making this post and I just tried it again with no improvement. I primarily use the Google chrome app, but I’ve tested it out in safari and Microsoft Edge app too and the same thing is still happening in every browser.
-
Thanks. Would you mind if we do some “test liking” with your account to see if we can confirm the issue? We’d just like post on WordPress.com/blog (and can unlike them, too)
-
-
Thanks. I used a few other test sites too. I’m seeing the problem consistently. We don’t have a solution yet, but we’ll update you here when we do.
Do you recall when this started?
-
I do not, but I know the last thing that I liked that I have a record of was posted on March 14th so probably around that time period.
-
Oh wow. Thanks. We’ll let you know what we find.
And @bordeauxrouge, I believe your case is resolved?
-
Hi @thesolitaryblackcatcafe, are you still using Jetpack on the site listed here?
https://wordpress.com/If so, can you ensure the plugin is up to date and connecting properly?
If not, would you consider disconnecting that then updating us here for further testing?
Thank you in advance!

I have read posts on that site before but that’s it. I’ve never had admin access to that site and I’m not authorized change anything. I don’t know why my WordPress is linked to that blog. I found an option to leave the blog. Would that make a difference?

Great, please follow the site again and then try to like content on the site. Also, for our reference, what is the URL of the site you are doing this on, so we can bear it in mind for our investigation.
Thanks!
