Nothing loading including support chat

  While my site is loading fine, clicking edit on any page, clicking on settings, or trying to access live chat loads nothing but a blank screen, on repeated efforts. I’m not having any connectivity issues with any other site, and have not made any changes to the WordPress site. Please halp!

  I haven’t been able to, as Settings is one of the pages that only loads a blank white screen when I try to click on it :/

  “Settings” on your computer and “Settings” within your browser menu have no connection with “Settings” found on your WordPress.com dashboard. It might be worth trying a different browser.

  Thank you so much! I feel very dumb for not trying a different browser straight away- in hindsight that seems on the “Turn it off and on again” level of obvious. It *did* work in Chrome; while it mysteriously still doesn’t work in Firefox despite clearing cache, I can edit content again and I am really grateful- thank you!!

  Glad you can work on your site again. I think the main browsers take it in turn to not work well with WordPress.com. Last month I couldn’t get Chrome to load the Customizer yet Firefox worked fine. “Go Figure” as we don’t say here in the UK.

  Hi there,

  I use Firefox every day, and have no problems at all accessing the WordPress.com admin pages, so this is not a problem with Firefox in general.

  Are you using any browser add-ons in Firefox? Please see if disabling those help. The most common culprits are ad blockers and anti-tracking extensions, which often take a blunt-tool approach of just blocking JavaScript code across the board, and given that the entire WordPress.com admin interface is built in JavaScript that leads to the issue you’re seeing.

  If it’s not that, it might be another setting in Firefox that got changed somehow. To test that, try logging in in private mode, or in safe mode, to see if that makes any difference.
