Nothing's working
-
I’m logged into my site http://thebookofbegin.com but it looks messed up and nothing’s clickable. I get a list of links that don’t work. I tried clearly my cache but that just made it worse.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your blog’s appearance is normal to me and I have instant access to it using IE11 and Firefox 36.
In order to help you we need to know your specific computing environment details. Please work through what follows and report back.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
If applicable see here for instructions on how to clear the cache for Chrome and Safari on the iPad:
http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/safari-ipad-clear-cache.htm
http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/How-To-Clear-Browsing-Data-In-Chrome-For-Ipad_6.htm(b) Make sure that you have both third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled
http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654(c) Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily. Know also that security and firewall programs and programs that run incognito mode may need to be temporarily disabled as well.
(d) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. Make sure to uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions
4. You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not then go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and download and install the latest version of flash.
5. Try using another browser.
6. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/
(c) Exactly what you experience including what any error reports you receive state. -
Thank you so much. I tried all that. Still nothing working … and it’s only wordpress.com that’s acting up. Not just my site, but any wordpress site I look at. I’m using Chrome Version 41.0.2272.76 on a Mac Powerbook

Everything was working fine 24 hours ago. I wish I could send a screenshot. See below for what I see. Clicking anything takes me in a loop.

Thanks. I appreciate your help Timethief. This must be a WordPress issue in my area (Japan) because every wordpress site I look at (whether logged in or not) looks the wrong … a list like above. Including your site Timethief. It’s 2 AM so maybe I should just wait until morning and see if it gets back to normal?

Hi @charlessandy,
Thanks for the report. Is this site still acting up for you? If so, could you let me know the following?
- Can you load any of the following URLs correctly?
- wordpress.com
- s1.wp.com
- sat.wordpress.com
Also, I know you mentioned you tested on your iPad, but have you tested on another browser (like Firefox) on your computer for comparison?
- Can you load any of the following URLs correctly?

Thank you Jeremy. It’s all working again now. Last night though I couldn’t load -any- wordpress.com site. All I would see no matter what browser or device I used was a list of unclickable links on the Admin of my own site and unformatted lists of posts on anyone’s site including wordpress.com. I even tried changing DNS servers, but nothing helped, so I went to bed. This morning it’s all back so it must have been a server issue somewhere.
