Nothing’s working with new WP.com blog

I really hate hate *hate* to sound this clueless. I’ve set up my own WordPress blogs before. But I just signed up for a weblog here with the name ‘coyoteyaps’ and… I can’t do anything with it. If I try and view it, it just goes back to the wordpress.com web site. I can edit posts that are there from my dashboard but any attempt to view the home page (coyoteyaps.wordpress.com) or any individual post on it just returns to the wordpress.com home page. coyoteyaps.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ shows my dashboard, but “View Site” at the top just links back to wordpress.com. (That’s what the actual link in my status bar is to, not to coyoteyaps.wordpress.com.)

And in fact, when I go to “General Options” on the dashboard it’s showing me “WordPress.com Blog” and “elvis ( at ) pornstar ( dot ) tld” as my blog title and email address. Huh?

Is there something really simple and obvious I’m missing here, or I am encountering really weird misconfigurations with my blog not being created correctly, or what?

Are you logged in when you’re trying to access that blog? If it’s marked private and you;re not logged in, you won’t see the blog as it’s protected. You’ll (and the folks you put on your list) only see it once you’ve logged in.

It’s either that or when you created your account, you took the “username only” option and a blog didn’t get created.

I’m logged in. I’m not seeing anything that suggests the blog is private. (The only thing relating to that I see is the Options > Privacy setting, and it’s on the first setting of “I would like my blog to appear in search engines like Google and Sphere, and in public listings around WordPress.com.”)

When I’m logged in it does say “Your blogs: coyoteyaps.wordpress.com” in the info box to the right of the home page, so I’m presuming I did not select “username only” for my account type.

I think it’s fixed for you now?

I’m having this same issue with my blog.

    Can you help?

Have you read the posts above your own? https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=10688&page&replies=10#post-75760
Please be sure that your blog is not marked “private” unless you want it to be.
If this does not correct the problem you can send in a feedback to staff with all your details. The feedback button is on the top right hand corner of any admin side blog page.

    How do I unmark private?

    -> Options -> Privacy
    Privacy Options
    Blog visibility:
___I would like my blog to appear in search engines like Google and Sphere, and in public listings around WordPress.com
___I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors
___I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose

Check mark the top one “I would like my blog to appear in search engines like Google and Sphere, and in public listings around WordPress.com.”
    Click “Update Options” to save.

Yes, that is how I originally set it up.

But, still get the errors and a weird email address under “General Options”.

Also, I noticed that Askimet has already protected my blog from 33,567 spam comments in 1 hour. WOW!

There has to be issues with this.

Have you sent in a feedback?

Now that’s my kind of numbers! That’s about what I block at my routers for about an hour. (Actually it’s still a lot more but in that ballpark.)

Best bet would be to send in an email from the email address that you signed up your account with and explain what has occured. Without knowing specifics (And I ask that you don’t post them here as that might cause you even more problems) it sounds like staff needs to be made aware what has occured.

They’re probably doing to tell you though to go ahead and change the email address and then your password though. But just to be on the safe side….

    Good luck,
