Notification of pending/published blog changed

  • Unknown's avatar

I can’t think what I did to change settings- and have checked them, BUT, I uploaded a draft blog via email, with the [status pending], and I was sent a notification of a published blog. I did some checking and I was the only to receive the notice, thankfully. THEN when I published, I did not get the notice.

Two blogs ago, I uploaded via email and forgot to code the status. It published, then I deleted it, emailed again, but probably didn’t get the code right – notification went again – twice the draft went. :-( I can only imagine that mess confused the blog.

But how do I get back to my “normal” notifications?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi,

Sounds like a bit of a frustrating time! To help me understand your expectation, what is the “normal” notification workflow you’re seeking?

The [status pending] is most commonly used in a multi-author environment where an author doesn’t have the ability to actually publish a post, so the notification you’re getting when you publish is intended to notify the author that someone with more privileges on the blog has actually published their post.

Hope that helps, or if not, we can drill down the issue a bit more.
    Cheers!

    Hi kraftbj,

I am the admin/owner and the only one that posts. Traditionally, I write my blog in Word on a blog format. Once it is written and edited a few times, I upload it via email post. I generally, spend another day working on the words, layout, adding links, etc. and seeing how it looks online. Then, after it “cooks” for 24 hours I read it through one more time, then PUBLISH. And once it is published I get a “new blog posted” notification. I now think I get that because I am my own follower. :-) It is the best way to get my published version back to me that I know of. I then dump the draft and turn the published back into a finished document. Some day I may want to bind them and the hardest part of the job will be done.

I may have UNFollowed me, moving back and forth between my blog custom design work, and the blog itself. I just moved to a new theme – “Twenty-Eleven”. So, that could explain why I didn’t get notified of the last blog post. I have since re “followed”.

I discovered that the one posted that was pending, had an extra space between the bracket and the s(tatus). Okay. I get that.

But, the confusing notification was getting a notification that said I posted a new blog, when all I did was upload, and the post was still Pending.

I will post a blog later today. That should tell me if the last notification was a blip on the screen or if I have some other issue.

If my methods give you some clue I would love to hear what you think. Thanks again for replying!

    Angie

    Hi, you guys.

I’ve had problems with getting a post from “pending” to publish. It says it’s in “review.” But like, Deserventure, I’m the only one on my blog. There is not an option to “PUBLISH.” Why is this so messed up, I wonder?

I’d really appreciate any advice you can offer.
