After successfully posting for a number of years, for the last two days my followers have not received any email notifications of my post. Why? What can I do please?
-
Hi there!
Can you let us know what the URL is of the site where you’re having this problem? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.
Thank you!

The blog is live and posted but none of my email followers have received it. Hope you can help. http://wordpress.com/post/andreaneidle.wordpress.com/3395
I also want to know why I can no longer use the classic version and have to use the block version.
It is easy to find my url on the classic version but the only link I can find on the block version is the one I have sent you.Really hope you can help. Thank you. I have been using WordPress since 2013 and have never had this problem before.

Hello there,
You can still use the classic editor. Learn how to do so by reading this guide:
https://wordpress.com/support/classic-editor-guide/However, you should know that this editor is on its way out, and may not be supported for long, so it’s a good idea to get used to the new editor or at least the classic block featured in it.
You can find out more about the deprecation of the classic editor here:
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-com-classic-editor-deprecation-faqs/Hope this helps.

Thanks for your answer to my question re the classic block but you have not answered my point about people not receiving my blog at all by email. They normally get sent WordPress links but nothing has been received. I have checked all my settings and I do not understand why this is not working. I am finding it very frustrating that my followers are not getting my posts. Help please! Thank you.
Andrea Neidle.

Hi there – It is indeed frustrating when followers don’t receive emails as expected. Let’s see if we can help dissect and remedy this.
Could you supply us with two or three email addresses which did not receive the email? Email addresses are automatically hidden within the forums (only we can see), so you can share them here in confidence with us so we can research.
We look forward to receiving the emails so we can cross-check.
The link you sent us points to the post titled, “397TH DAY OF LOCKDOWN IN THE YEAR 2021, CORONAVIRUS ERA”, published April 13. We’ll look into that specifically once we hear back from you.
(For future) Consider following your own site via email (if you are not already). It provides a great cross-check for when a follower tells you they did not receive an email. You can check to see if you received it to inform what you do next.

Thanks for your helpful reply.
I signed up to my blog today and did not receive any email.
Other email addresses for you –

Hi, you’re right: these folks are subscribed and haven’t seen a new email since April 1.
In taking a look at your site to see what could be going wrong, I noticed you have a lot of sticky posts. These are usually meant to just be a few posts “pinned” to the front page of the site, and I’ve seen some strange bugs when people get too many stickies. You currently have 50.
If there’s no particular reason you were making those sticky, can you unstick most or all of them? Please note I have no idea whether this will help; again I’ve just seen some strange things with too many stickies, so I think it’s worth a shot. But if you actually need all of those posts to be sticky for some reason, let us know what you’re doing with that so we can dig around for other possible causes.

Thanks. I am doing this now. At the same time I have noticed that a number of posts have disappeared. Example – Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a panto, blog on Robert Burns and “The gift that keeps on giving”.
Sometimes they have disappeared in the draft but show up in the preview. Sometimes they are not there at all. Sometimes I see “this block contains unexpected or invalid content.” HELP!!!!!
There is clearly a bug. I can’t help thinking that the problems coincide with moving from the classic format (which I liked and am happy to use) to the block format.
I really hope you can help sort out this problem.
Meanwhile, I am working my way through unsticking the blogs. We should know quite soon if that was the reason why people are not receiving my posts.
Thanks. -
Have unstuck all except about 6.
In going through I have also noticed a number of missing blogs.
For example, “Bring it on” is missing. Some appear missing but are there when I click “preview”.
Others have gone.Hope you can help me so that my followers receive my blocks and also so that he missing blocks can be restored.
Thanks!
-
Please note that although I have removed most of the sticky posts – leaving only about 6 – they all show up as sticky when I look at the blog as if I am a visitor and not via admin. I am feeling very upset that my blog – which has run without a hitch for many years – is not working properly. I do hope you will be able to fix it asap. Thank you!

Hi,
Have you posted anything new after removing the sticky posts?
At the same time I have noticed that a number of posts have disappeared.
Can you tell us more details about that? Where did those posts disappear from? From the published site, or you don’t see them in the list in My Site>Posts? Or do you mean that you see the post, but when you open it to edit, it’s empty?
Once we know a bit more, we can advise better.

Thank you for your reply. Some posts have disappeared from the published site. They are all still on the list. When I open some of the posts there will be a small amount of content or nothing at all. Some of them have posts missing if I go to “edit” but are there on the published site. It is a mystery.
I have not posted anything new after removing the sticky posts. There is no point in doing so because my followers are NOT receiving my posts and that is why I contacted you in the first place. I was told to reduce the sticky posts which I have done but there has been no change. Also, when I view the site, the posts all still seem to be sticky even though I removed them!!!!!
Each time I reply to a question I get an email from someone new. It would be helpful if the same person could see all my responses and respond to them. Would it be possible perhaps for someone at WordPress to talk to me on the phone? I would like the matter of people not receiving my blogs dealt with asap. I am finding it very frustrating and upsetting.
I am not new to blogging. I have had this blog since 2011 and this is the first time I have had this. I would appreciate it if you could first please ensure that people who sign up to my blogs receive my posts otherwise there is no point in my continuing which would be a great shame after 10 successful years.
Thank you.

How are you getting on? Have you found out why my followers are not getting my posts? Please get back to me and let me know. Thank you!
I am waiting to hear back from you very soon. -

WordPress.com staff and community volunteers respond to help requests made to the free support forums that you’re posting to now, so we wouldn’t be able to specifically assign someone to help you. Regarding these “missing posts” – the post “Bring it on” is showing on your site for me:
screenshot: https://d.pr/i/cJth0X
With sticky posts relative to normal posts, they will display on your site in the following order:
1. Sticky posts, newest to oldest.
2. Regular posts, newest to oldest. That means your oldest sticky post dated September 18, 2020 (“Chicken Soup…”) would show in order before your most recent non-sticky post “Lockdown TV Viewing” from April 1, 2021.
Since you have that order happening in addition to having 30 posts per page loading using infinite scroll, not all your posts will load on page load and you need to scroll down and trigger the next batch of posts to be displayed. That’s how I found the “Bring it on” post.
Example – Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a panto, blog on Robert Burns and “The gift that keeps on giving”.
I can see all three of these posts on your site which needed me to scroll down to Dec 2020 to Jan 2021 in your list after the Sticky posts to see them.
All the posts are there for your visitors to read, they’re just not in the reverse chronological order like most blogs are due to the use of those sticky posts. If you want to have all your posts showing newest first, you would need to unsticky the remaining posts to fix that.
If you’re still having this problem with content missing please take a screenshot of the problem in question. If you’re not familiar on how to take a screenshot, this support document will help explain how to make one:
Then, use a service like Snipboard.io to upload the screenshot and then share the image link from that service here and we’ll take a closer look.
Regarding the preview functionality – the theme you’re using was retired in August 2015 which was before the new Block Editor was even a concept so it’s very likely that the preview function using the Block Editor in modern WordPress won’t work in a theme that hasn’t been updated in nearly 6 years.
Your best bet might be to look into updating your theme to one that is more current to modern WordPress.
NOTE: if you switch themes even temporarily, since your current theme is retired, you would not be able to switch back to it. You can view the demo themes instead or set up a new free site to see how these new themes would work.
I hope that clarifies things! Let us know if you still need our help.

Thank you. That is helpful. BUT the reason I contacted you for help in the first place is because people are NOT receiving my blogs. This has been confirmed by one of your colleagues. None of my followers received my most recent blog which was posted two days ago. A colleague of yours suggested I remove the “sticky” posts but that has not made any difference. No one has received my latest blog post. Please can you look into why people are NOT receiving my blogs. That is what I really need help with.
I hope you can help and hope to hear back from someone asap. Thank you. -
Looking at your site, your most recent blog post is the one titled “Lockdown TV Viewing” from April 1st. Based on the emails you provided here, they all had received that email.
Looking at the post titled “397TH DAY OF LOCKDOWN IN THE YEAR 2021, CORONAVIRUS ERA” it looks like that was originally published on May 12, 2020 with the title “57TH DAY IN LOCKDOWN – AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT”.
Here’s the stats view showing that original publish date: https://d.pr/i/bquoo0
https://wordpress.com/stats/day/andreaneidle.wordpress.com?startDate=2020-05-12
Since you took an already-published post and updated it, it would not be resent to your subscribers. Only new, never before published posts would be sent out to your email subscribers, so the feature is working as expected.
If you want this update to go out to your subscribers, you should create a new post and copy that content over – when you publish the new post, that should go out to your subscribers.
I hope that clarifies things! Let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you. That is really helpful and I will look into it. The post came up as a draft so I thought I could not have posted it. I searched for it in the existing posts and could not see it and posted it again. I will try sending out a completely new post.
I have also updated my theme to a new one.
I still need to discover why some blogs are missing some or all text. But your email is good news. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. -
To CSCONNEK. I looked at my site. The post you refer to is NOT the same one. It is a poem called My Kind of Man with the title “57TH DAY IN LOCKDOWN – AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT”.
https://wordpress.com/stats/post/3392/andreaneidle.wordpress.comSo I am still at a loss. However I will attempt to post a completely different blog tomorrow and see what happens. It is all very baffling.
-
@andreaneidle please do let us know how it goes when you publish a new post! I had totally missed that this latest post was actually published some time ago under another title, but that certainly would explain why people didn’t get notifications.
Thank you. That is helpful. BUT the reason I contacted you for help in the first place is because people are NOT receiving my blogs.
To avoid any confusion, it’s best to put separate issues in separate threads just so we can stay focused on the topic at hand.
Cheers!
