notifications of every post via email
-
Hi. I post via email a lot and I cannot seem to find a way to turn off the notifications I receive via email every time I post via email. I have read the Help topic
I have everything unchecked on https://wordpress.com/me/notifications and Default email delivery set to Never send me email.
What is the trick to making them stop? Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m sorry I am unable to help you resolve this. If the issue is still there type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

It is still a problem. I do almost all my posting via email, dozens at a time, and I am getting a notification for every one of them.
Another question I cannot find an answer to is this: All the posts I submit are going into Published status. I see there is a short code to force it into Draft status, but isn’t there a setting somewhere so that all posts are automatically in Draft status, subject to later change?
Thank you.
-
The behavior you are describing is not “normal”. All posts and pages commence as drafts. Please be patient while waiting for Staff help.
-
Well that sounds annoying.
Have you tried clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email?
Do you, by any chance, have a second email address that points to your normal address? AKA, have you checked to make sure that the notifications are addressed to your normal email address?
-
I clicked unsubscribe. That took me to a page where, at the bottom, I checked the box to “Block all email updates from blogs you’re following on WordPress.com”.
That did not help.
I sent an email with a new post, and immediately I got an email from (email visible only to moderators and staff) telling me I posted something new.
-
On this page — https://dnspeak.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=email_post_changes —
it will not let me remove my email address or remove the check before “Posts”. If I clear them and Save my changes, the pages refresh and my email and the check in the box are put back.
-
I even put in a bogus email address and saved it on https://dnspeak.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=email_post_changes,
yet I get an email anyway.
On this page — https://subscribe.wordpress.com/?update=options&option=settings — I changed the preference from HTML to Plain Text, and now the emails are coming in plain text. But on this same page, the fact that the “Block all email updates from blogs you’re following on WordPress.com” is checked seems to have no effect.
-
And…
Every email I send to my wordpress address is showing up in Published status. How do I configure wordpress so that all email posts default to Draft status? The blog I need help with is dnspeak.wordpress.com.
-
Have you turned off comment notification here: https://dnspeak.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-discussion.php
-
I have unchecked al the boxes on https://dnspeak.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-discussion.php in the “Email me whenever” section. I still get an email acknowledging a post I submit via email.
I also unchecked all the boxes in the “Default Article Settings” section of that page. I saved the changes, and sent new posts via email, and they are each instantly acknowledged with a return email from wordpress.
-
Ahhh, so this is ONLY happening when you use the post by email functionality, correct?
That is not something that can be turned off. Due to the imperfect nature of email, it is designed to serve as a confirmation that your post was received by the system.
-
OK. Thank you for your explanation. Now…
What about the fact that every email I send is getting posted in Published status instead of going into Draft status?
On the fact that the email acknowledgements cannot be turned off: 1) I think this should be explained in the Help topic on posting via email, and 2) I really do not like the fact that it cannot be turned off. I may post via email 100 times a day, and I don’t want my inbox flooded with pointless (to me) acknowledgements. My practice with Blogger is to send all the posts as I read articles throughout the day, then in the evening or next morning go through all the drafts and clean them up and publish. All the acknowledgements coming back to me and the fact that the posts are going to Published status before I can clean them up are keeping me from migrating to WordPress. If I could at least have my email posts arrive in draft status, I might be able to work around the email acknowledgements, but I don’t feel I should have to.
Thank you.
-
And this still happens when you use the [status publish | pending | draft | private] shortcode as described in the help document?
-
OK, so if I type [status draft] in the email it shows up in draft status. Thank you. However, it seems like this is something there ought to be a a way to have be set as a default.
-
We will keep the suggestion in mind. However, people generally use Post By Email to publish posts when internet access is scarce or inconsistent. The way you are looking to use it is far less common.
