Notify by email of new comments

I thought there would be some setting in WordPress that would notify me by email of someone posting a comment to one of my blogs. I can’t seem to find one. Is this not native to WordPress or do I need a plugin to do this? If so, what are some of my plugin options.

Go to your dashboard and then to settings discussion and you will find several settings for notification of comments. Do note, that the notifications will be sent to the email address that you used to set up your blog (listed under settings > general).

Another suggestion is to make sure that you check your email spam filters for the notification emails. Sometimes they get caught and you might have to “whitelist” them.

I do have that box checked for “Email me whenever anyone posts a comment”

I have checked my email spam box and nothing shows up in there or in my inbox.

I would then suggest contacting support. It may be a glitch on the backend.

I am sure there is something else I have to configure on my end. I run WordPress on my own server at home but the email for domain is hosted by Google. All the documentation for getting Google Hosted Apps to work with WordPress are geared toward having your blog hosted on WordPress.com and using the mapped domain. Doesn’t seem to be any documentation on using WordPress on your own server with Google hosting your email.

If you are self-hosted then you need to inquire over at http://wordpress.org/support/ since we use different software here and many things work differently.

This forum is for those hosted here at wordpress.com.
