notify followers of blog name change

  Hi there, we have changed the name of our blog and now wish to notify all our followers and subscribers.
  Whats the best way to do this please?
  Also if we put a new post up – will all the previous followers receive notification of this?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Specifically, what do you mean by blog name?

  If you are not changing the URL ie. the address starting with htttp:// then there is no need to notify any followers other than by publishing a post stating the change.

  The Site title (blog name) and/or the optional Tagline can be changed on the top of this page at any time. > Settings > General … “save changes”.

  That is exactly where search engine spiders look for the site title and removing it from there can cause issues with getting your content indexed. Note that the site title (blog name) and blog address URL do not have to be the same but it’s better for SEO (search engine optimization) if they are the same.

  oooh I think we inadvertantly did change the url…….it used to be room1ouruhia.wordpress.com and now it is teamtipuouruhia.wordpress.com as it is a collaborative team between two classrooms……..are we able to advise followers? Thanks for your prompt reply too

  When we subscribe we sunbbscrobe to receive updates form a specifoc URL (blog address). There is no formal notification process for this. You can publish a post to advise followers to subscribe to the new URL.

  Hi there,

  I see you changed your site’s address via the Change Address link on the My Blogs page. When you do that all your WordPress.com and email followers are moved to the new address automatically, so they probably won’t even notice that the address have changed.

  Let me know if you have any more questions about this.
