Notify users of new posts and comments

  I have seen WordPress blogs where at the end of the comment box there are two check boxes that allow the user to be alerted in email if there is a new post to the blog or a new comment on that particular post. Can someone please tell me how to enable this or what plugin to install?

  Hi @fdarn77,

  On WordPress.com sites this would be set in the Discussion settings. To get here, go to your wp-admin panel and click Settings > Discussion. Scroll down a bit and make sure these two lines are checked:

  Show a ‘follow comments’ option in the comment form
  Show a ‘follow blog’ option in the comment form

  Remember to save the changes.

  Thank you. What if my word press is installed on a separate server not on wordpress.com? Is there a way to make this happen?

  Yes, by using Jetpack and connecting your self hosted WordPress.org site to WordPress.com. Then you would be able to go to the same place I mentioned in my previous post to add these options to your Comment section.
