Now my site has moved to a hosting service, how can I use plug-ins?

    Hi,
The site “Street by Street Project” was moved to streetxstreet.org.au yesterday, but I still do not see the Plug-ins option on the Dashboard. I need to use JetPack to set up a contact form / database and create a Donate button, but I understand I can only do this with plug-ins.
Please can you let me know how I do this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Lorraine Pestell

  • I see that Domain Mapping was set up for streetxstreet.org.au yesterday. However, domain mapping is a WordPress.com upgrade allowing you to use a domain you have registered elsewhere with your WordPress.com site. It is not the same as setting up a self hosted site.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

To set up a self-hosted WordPress site, you will need to purchase hosting space (from a company such as bluehost or Godaddy) and then set up a WordPress install.

Thank you! That explains why my associate said he managed to get web hosting for a $13 one-off fee, when GoDaddy and similar hosting services were quoting me a monthly subscription.

Just wait ’til I tell him!!!!

    Thanks again :-)
