Nucleare theme does not show entire lastest post on front page.

I want my Nucleare theme to show the entire latest post on the front home page. Instead it shows a small excerpt with […] at the end of the excerpt. How can that be changed? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Nucleare displays an excerpt if you’ve use the Video, Audio, or Image post format. To display the full post on the blog page assign the Standard post format to it.

This is frustrating. I switched my theme to Nucleare because my prior one did not allow comments. Nothing in the preview showed that. Now I have Nucleare and nowhere did it say before I posted that only an excerpt would be shown if there was an image. WordPress needs to do a better job of giving ALL the details so people can know if a theme is right for them. I want both an image and a full post. What personal blogging theme allows that, as well as comments? Thanks.

  • Hi Nancy, you can definitely have images and text within the same post!

What I was referring to yesterday is the post format that you’ve assigned to a post.

You’ve selected the Image post format for certain posts, which is what’s telling the theme to display an excerpt on the blog page.

All you need to do is select Standard instead of Image and the full post will be displayed – you don’t need to change anything else. Here’s a screenshot of where you need to look in the post editor:

Edit Post kp test site WordPress com

As soon as you switch the post format there you should see the full post on the blog page.

I switched my theme to Nucleare because my prior one did not allow comments.

Hmm, I’d like to clarify this, too, since all themes should allow comments. What theme were you using before?

I no longer am using the Sequential theme, but in the Settings menu, I forget if it was the Discussion or the Writing submenu, there were a lot of choices about comments and the last thing on the page had no way to choose to display “Leave a Reply.” It had an asterisk next to it saying the program had not enabled that choice and it was up to the user to find a way to essentially use CSS. I thought because it was a business theme that they did not want comments and that is why they did not enable it and so I switched themes. Thanks for your help with the standard form for posts.

  • That’s definitely odd as Sequential (and all themes) do allow the option for comments on blog posts and pages. If you ever see this again, just let us know by adding the tag modlook in the Tags area of the thread and staff will be glad to take a look.
