#number (deleted) in stats

  When I look at the all-time WordPress Stats for my blog, I see a few entries like “#40 (deleted)” as a post title, they then link to something like domain.com/?p=40. They have hit counts, so they appear to represent

  something

  . What are these?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  They represent deleted posts. All your posts have an ID number (for example the ID of your “Stay!” post is 3023), and deleted posts are shown by post ID instead of post title.

  Maybe, sometimes, but I doubt that the explanation is that simple. Some of these have hundreds of hits, and I don’t have so many popular posts that I can afford to delete ones with many hits. And I don’t go back to delete old posts – it would have to be an old post to collect many hits.

  There are four of the #(deleted) posts in the list, 38-40 and 48. It also seems a little odd that three of these numbers are sequential and they’re all clustered.
