Number next to the Facebook share button on a post doesn't match site stats
-
I am confused about what the number next to the Facebook Share button at the bottom of a post means. I have read other forum threads which make it sound like that is the number of people who went to my site and clicked that button.
However, it doesn’t match the number of Facebook shares in my Site Stats. For one post the number on the button says 92 and the number on my stats page says 3 (which feels more realistic). If it’s 3, what does the 92 mean? If it’s 92, why doesn’t that show up under site stats?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thanks for the quick response! Here’s the post I referenced (but there seems to be a discrepancy across any posts with shares): http://ratherthecouch.com/2015/02/06/im-singing-on-the-internet-take-two/

Yep, that seems to be a very popular post. Basically what the Facebook buttons on WordPress blogs do (at least all the ones Im familiar with), is count the total number of likes, shares and comments for that post and then displays that number on your webpage.
So using HowManyShares.com , we can see that your post got 35 likes, 3 shares and 54 comments, which add up to 92. Plus 3 tweets.
