number of blog commenters on page causes page load problem how to fix

I don’t have this problem but another blogger with wordpress does, due the large number of commenters the page is no longer downloadable.

How could one fix this ?

I’ve thought about a automated process whereby any page that reaches a certain size automatic stops accepting comments and generates another new next page continually until the maxium webspace allotment is reached.

Any Ideas how I might implement such a automated procedure?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We set the number of posts we want to display on the front page of our blogs here > Settings > Reading
Blog pages show at most __posts

I have no difficulty at all loading telcomcorp.wordpress.com. It’s not slow to load. Moreover, I don’t see any comments on the front page posts at all so I’m wondering if you are referring to another blog or not.

Unless you switch to using unless you use the P2 theme which is a Twitter-like theme, he front pages of our blogs showcase content and comments are collapsed on that page and you cannot change this. The way the comments function is coded into the core of WordPress. By clicking the post title or the comments link the posts on the front page open on their own page where all comments display. The reason comments are collapsed on the front page is to minimize page loading time.

@telcomcorp, in wordpress, you can paginate comments so that only part of them will show on the main posts page, and then you click a link to get more to show.

See #5 under “other comment settings on this support page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/ .
