Number of permissable pages?
-
Does anyone know if WordPress limits the number of pages you can have on your blog? For example, could I have 500, 5,000, or 50,000 pages? Thanks PS: Could not find anything on this in Codex.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you are talking about static pages you create (dashboard >pages > new) I don’t think there is a limit, but from a web design standpoint there effectively is. How would you navigate 500 pages let alone 5,000?
On very large sites, this is done by breaking things up into sections and then each section has its own navigation. Still, it is a daunting task and presents a lot of obstacles and you can very easily and very quickly overwhelm the visitor.
The main problem at wordpress.COM is that you cannot have different menus for different pages and/or sections.
Posts are still the best way to present most content on wordpress because you can categorize them which means people can easily get to posts on specific subjects or categories by clicking on a category name in the category widget. Pages cannot be categorized.

Also if you are talking about a blog here, be careful about looking at the codex at wordpress.ORG. Many things that are doable with a self-hosted wordpress.ORG blog cannot be done here at wordpress.COM.

The codex is useful for those who are self-hosting there own installs from WordPtress.ORG. Here at WordPress.COM our support documentation is found at this link. > http://en.support.wordpress.com
There is no limit on the number of posts or pages you can have. As TSP pointed out above there are significant differences between pages and posts and understand what they are is important.
