Number of post per user is shown incorrect

  We have several authors publishing posts to our site, but the number of posts per user (when you click on the name of the author, or from the dashboard when you click on the name or open the authors/userlist) is shown incorrectly. Also: when you click on a name just a few of the posts are shown. What can be wrong?
