That’s right. I teach blogging, and that’s the first thing I teach people. Also: never, EVER link to Wikipedia. They just don’t care. Link to a blog or small website that talks about the subject; those people will check their stats and look at your blog, with a warm glow of gratitude. They are more likely to become regular readers and give you links.
The best way to GET links is to GIVE them. The internet is like a sewer: what you get out of it depends on what you put into it.

I’ve lost most of my traffic due to being banned, blocked, and spanked from different places. I comment on a few sites and the rest is just luck.

Post about being spanked on a Sunday and I guarantee you’ll get all those hits back and more if you call it “Being Spanked!” and you put “I was spanked” as the first sentence of the post. I’m serious.
