numbered and bullet list issues
-
With recent changes to wordpress, my bulleted lists have become very difficult to manage.
They have turned into each bullet being its own paragraph, which I don’t want.
If I try to convert them back from a bullet to a regular paragraph, that selection isn’t available in the upper left drop down box. There’s a list icon only and nothing else. Same problem if I “choose parent block” and try to convert the whole thing back to plain paragraphs, there is no other choice. There’s no way to easily convert a list to anything else–including converting a bullet list to a numbered list or vice versa. There just isn’t an option, once you’ve got a list, apparently you’re stuck there forever. If this change was intentional with the bulleted lists, it was a bad idea.
So, I tried individually command-x cutting each bullet and re-pasting it. but because most of mine are linked, they won’t cut. or copy.
I’m left with the only option of de-linking each one, cutting the text, pasting it into a new plain paragraph and re-linking it.
If this is some kind of glitch, it needs to be fixed. Otherwise, going back to where the bullet points or numbered lists don’t have space between them would be helpful.
It has to be that someone can add back in the ability to drop-down menu a switch from a list to a plain paragraph.
If that’s not on the horizon, I’d like some technical assistance on my home page so I don’t have to de-link, paste and re-link all 200+ of these by hand. And that’s just one page. I have lists on many of my hundreds of pages that now need fixing.

Hi,
Can you share a specific example page/post where this is happening? It would make it easier to look into.

This home page is the one I’ve been working on
https://curatedsourcesltw.wordpress.com/This is also a problem
and every page and/or post within when I’m actively editing bullet or numbered lists I have the same issue
https://liftingthewool.wordpress.com/2022/09/21/a-few-questions-for-cheryl/
this one has a numbered list at the very bottom of the post–also cannot switch it back to plain paragraph or change it from numbered list to bullet listWhat I see when I’m editing isn’t what shows up when I view the page, the lists don’t have giant gaps for the viewer, just the edit screen. There’s no way for me to format it and know what it will look like to the viewer.
Thanks.

Hi, I checked those posts and figured out a solution. You can quickly turn those separate Paragraph blocks into a single List block by selecting them all at once and then converting them to a List. Here’s a screenshot to make things easier:
To select all those paragraphs, you can click and scroll your mouse over them, much like when selecting a bunch of text on a document.
Hope that helps. If you need anything else, let me know

Sir, what you have selected there is not a bulleted list, it’s a bunch of paragraphs.
Of course I can begin with a non-list and convert that into a list–that’s not the direction I am having trouble with.
Try scrolling down 5 lines on that same page to this selection, which is a bulleted list:
Shining the Light on Human Sex Traffic by Elites and Using the DUMBS and Orphanages to Hide It. Michael K Jaco, Pastor Dragonfly, Chantelle Meyburgh and Jessie Czebotar January 2021
Defeating the Demonic Realm
Gov’s Intel Orgs, Churches, Child Protective Services, Porn, Epstein involved in child trafficking June 2021Try selecting 1 or more of those 3 bullets and converting one or all of them backwards into a paragraph. I cannot do that, there is no dropdown box where there should be one to “Transform to”. All there is is a bullet sign that no dropdown box will appear under.
It’s once it is ALREADY a list that I can’t go backwards to a paragraph.

Hi there, ok that makes a lot more sense, sorry for the confusion!
In this case, you need to select the entire block, not just parts of it, and you’ll be able to Transform it.

a-ha.
I don’t recall ever having to do that step before. I do kind of feel like I’ve lost my mind slightly, but maybe there were changes made and now it’s different than before?
Many thanks with your patience on this.
It’s nice to know it’s still possible to un-do a list, but if the powers that be should ever want my opinion, this is not a terribly intuitive process.
Onward….
