Numbering and text layout distorted

Why is it the lay out is different from the original design? Please look at my published article at https://wisefocusblog.wordpress.com/2017/08/02/reaching-a-new-breakthrough-record-of-1000-readers-and-2000-views/. The numbering listings are totally out of order and can’t be fixed. Paragraph settings are also run hear wire…. Anyone know how to fix this thing?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi chokjevon,

Thanks for sharing your post. The formatting doesn’t look right at all!

Could you tell me if you are using the Visual post editor or the HTML editor? (More on that hear if you need it: https://en.support.wordpress.com/editors)

And how exactly are you creating the numbers? Do you type manually or use a numbering button in the formatting bar? If you could walk me through step-by-step, it’ll help us get to the cause of the issue.

  • In addition, did you paste your blog post from another program such as Microsoft Word, or an email program? Formatting does not correctly copy over from outside programs, and it’s best to use the ‘Paste as plain text’ option to copy and paste without formatting.

I see this is not happening on your other posts, so let me know if you did something differently when preparing this post. It may be a clue as to what’s going wrong here!

    Hi donalirl,

Thanks for responding. I am only 6 months using this wordpress and 1st time do blogging thing. I need to learn many features and template skill here.

In regard to whether using Visual post editor or the HTML editor, I think I do not know what is HTML, possibly I use whatever given to me when I press the button “New Post.”

Yes, I normally make my draft on MS word and copy them in wordpress. But I did the editing before publishing. I have been doing it this way all along. I do not know why this time the published page is out of my control. It means, my own edited page looks OK, but the published page is not ok… looks messy…

I used copy and paste from MS Word, and arrange them manually. First, I tried to use those “Bulleted list” and “Numbered list” available features there. But when I saw those disarrayed outcome, I went back to cancel auto numbering, and use manual typing in. but they didn’t follow…

Ok, after trying for the whole morning… pswh…… really taking too much time away….. I finally came to a conclusion that WordPress template doesn’t take multiple sub-heading layout format. It has only 1 level of numbering system. And it doesn’t response to the “Tab” key for spacing in the published view. I have to compromise for the final layout as what it is now, unless or until I come to learn how to maneuver through those features in the formatting bar.

Thanks anyway for the readiness to help me out…

  • The likely cause then is that the formatting gets messed up when pasting from Microsoft Word. Microsoft Word just isn’t designed for web publishing so I recommend creating your post within WordPress itself.

If you are pasting from Microsoft Word, make sure you use the paste as plain text option. You can read more about that here:

    Microsoft Word

    Hope this helps!
