Numbering within pages – MistyLook
-
I have tried to find an answer to this but to no avail. I would like to know if there is a known problem with using the numbering feature within a page when you want a long list (my numbering restarts at 0 after 9 (i.e. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,1,2 etc). I would rather use numbers rather than bullets as the page is a ’50 new things I have done blah blah’ page using the MistyLook theme (I don’t think this is an issue using other themes). Is there a way I can fix this without changing my theme?
Here is the page in question: http://kate1976.wordpress.com/50-new-things/

That’s really odd. I took a look at the live preview of the .org version of MistyLook and the ordered list only goes to 3, but I expected it to be longer. I use this theme too, so I know there was a bit of behind-the-scenes tinkering the other day. Maybe someone knows the answer.

I have just looked at this page again using Firefox and the numbering is right although the numbers in double digits do not really fit on the page. So this seems to be an IE problem with this theme (although the theme itself doesn’t seem to like long lists!).

It’s not that it actually restarts at zero it’s that it cuts off the first number. I just did a list of 55 things and all the numbers are there, but the first digit is almost completely cut off making it appear like the list goes from 0-9. That’s because they are aligning via the decimal point for a cleaner look. They need to shift that point over a little bit. This is something staff should be made aware of: http://wordpress.com/contact-support/

It happens in Safari and also in Firefox on mac, so I would think it’s a theme problem that needs staff attention.

I’m wondering if anyone has an answer how this can be resolved. I’m having the problem also after making a top 10 list, and going from 1 to 0. I understand the problem has been identified, now any solutions?

These themes are designed specifically for blog use and not for cms use. In blogs having 10 static pages is far more than what was anticipated by the designer. The way to manage an excessive number of static pages may be this approach http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/07/01/i-have-too-many-pages-at-the-top-of-my-blog/
Each static page in the Misty Look theme will automatically provide links to all sub-pages at the bottom of the static parent page. -
Please ignore what I wrote immediately above as I cannot delete it. I have re-read this whole thread and now understand that the only solution would appear to be to approach staff.

{waving to tt}
I think bryangrobinson is talking about numbered lists within the pages, which is the problem, right?
Short of getting the CSS upgrade and then changing it yourself (if you have CSS editing experience) we are at the mercy of staff and no one knows when they will get around to fixing it.

I just did some searching on Sadish’s forum, the author of Mistylook, and found the following CSS fix for the numbered list problem on pages and posts.
#content ol { list-style-type:decimal; margin: 2em; padding: 0 2em; }I tried this fix with firebug, and it takes care of the problem. All that is actually necessary is to change the margin and padding to what is shown.

By the way, I sent this fix on to support as well. Hopefully they will get it implemented very soon.

There’s a certain problem I’m having with my theme(Simpla) too. The images appear raised as compared to the text, is their any logic in trying to post about it here because I did earlier too and nobody replied.

@ishmeet
I did reply to you in the new thread you posted. Also note that normally on blog support forums one does not get an answer within the same day let alone within the hour …lol …
Also note that posting into a thread on something that is off-topic for that thread is considered to be a “no-no” (It’s called thread jacking as in hi-jacking). https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=15876 -
