Numbers for Facebook and Twitter shares deleted
-
Hi, My wordpress account was upgraded yesterday to include my own domain (Value Package). This morning I noticed that the numbers for my Facebook and Twitter shares have all been deleted. Some of my posts have more than 1K shares so obviously this doesn’t look good. Could you please let me know what’s happened and remedy it as soon as possible. Thank you. Howdy,
Those numbers are returned to your site from Twitter and Facebook based on the address of the post. Since the post’s address changed from http://themourningafternatasha.wordpress.com/2013/10/17/example-post to http://themourningafternatasha.com/2013/10/17/example-post, both Facebook and Twitter are “seeing” that as two different pages, thus returning different numbers than before.
The only way to fix this, however, is to change your Primary Domain back to your WordPress.com on via Store->Domains in your site’s dashboard (direct link: https://themourningafternatasha.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains )
Your domain name will still work, but the URL in the address bar would be the WordPress.com address.
Based on Twitter’s response to this question here, unfortunately, they don’t have an option for a nice migration to a new domain :-(
If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know.

Still waiting to hear from someone. Is anyone trying to get an answer for me? Thank you.

Hi again,
I posted an answer a few minutes before your response. Sending this reply to “ping” you again in case you missed it.
For future reference too, we answer threads based on the oldest-time-since-last-response, so “bumping” a thread actually moves it to the bottom of the list. I’d hate for you to have to wait longer than needed!
Cheers!

Thanks. I’ve changed it back to http://www.themourningafternatasha.wordpress.com.
The problem is that I paid for a custom domain name yesterday so that I would qualify for WordAds. Does this now mean that I don’t qualify for it (even though I upgraded so I could qualify)???
Thank you. -
Hi,
I’m afraid it is an either/or. The custom domain needs to be primary for WordAds. Once Twitter and Facebook adds a tool to help users in this situation, this can be easily fixed, but it is at their mercy.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything else.

Thanks for the info, Kraft. Please let me know how I can be reimbursed for the Value Package. We bought it exclusively for the purpose of WordAds. There was no information stating that if you buy the domain you will lose the number of Tweets and Facebook likes. Hope to hear from you soon and thanks for getting back to me.

Hi,
You can cancel and have it refunded via the Store->My Upgrades page at https://themourningafternatasha.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades .
Please note that it needs to be cancelled within two days to get a full refund. After two days, the domain can’t be cancelled, so the refund would only be for the difference between the full bundle and the domain.
If you have any other questions or need anything else, please let me know.
