Numerous questions unanswered

  • Unknown's avatar

Please help me! I created my blog a week ago and I cannot get answers to questions that I feel are significant.
    1. I have set my own email up as a follower and I am not getting notified of my new posts. I did this after friends were telling me they were not being notified. Please let me know how to fix the problem so that my followers will be notified when I post a new blog post.
    2. I cannot find how to access previous topics that I have asked questions on without entering another question. Someone responded stating that I should have an option in upper right hand corner of my screen, but I do not have this option. I do not see a welcome to Hopeless Romantic option as mentioned in their reply.

If you have replied several times I am not seeing them. Perhaps I’m not understanding how to access the replies but I still don’t know how to correct the problem with followers not receiving email notifications about new posts and I still have to log in to my blog and go through contact support and posts another question to be able to view any responses from anyone. Am I missing something. Thanks.

Click on that link I just posted. You will see ALL of your forum posts.

Ok, I did that and I see my forum posts but unless I’m missing something, the forum posts I stated were unanswered have no replies and no indication that someone is working on.

The front of this forum at this present moment contains at least 8 seperate threads you have posted. There are other people wanting answers too, and you have to wait until someone can give you an answer, if you stopped creating multiple threads that would help people a great deal.

Perhaps there is a problem with expectations. As I mentioned, when I first created my blog, I was getting responses instantaneously. When the replies stopped, I thought I had done something to block things as I posted because of apparent dormancy. How long is reasonable in terms waiting for a reply? In some cases it was several days with no response. Also, I thought we were encouraged to posts issues as they surface or continue because in IT world one change can snowball into another issue.

Long story short, I I don’t mind waiting if that is the norm, but my norm my first couple of days was instantaneosuly. Thanks.

You keep asking different things. Please, state what exactly is the problem you are experiencing?

Click that and tell me whether or not the drop down under “Get new posts
by email” is set to “Never”

    It is set to “instantly”.

Have you checked your spam folder in your e-mail account to make sure they weren’t sent there?

@ thegiddygoat….the issues I am still not clear on are:

    1) apparent dormancy and/or drop in hits
    2) email notifications to followers notifying them of new blog posts not working on my own test email and other friends who follow who have reported they have not received an email for my last 2 new posts.

@ ardpete….yes sir! That was the first thing I did.

I’ll tag it for staff attention to see if there is an underlying problem. As for the drop of hits, I’d probably attribute that to it being summer.

  • Unknown's avatar

The drop in hits? Everyone is either watching the Olympics in London, or are at the Olympics in London!! Or searching for blogs about the Olympics in London!!

  • Unknown's avatar

I understand what you all are saying about Summer and the Olympics but I also think it is odd that I had over 200 on one day and then really low numbers the next day. Either the over 200 was incorrect or I’m thinking there may be an issue going on. Also my other posts document clearly that as I invited more and more through the user option on dashboard as followers, there appeared to be some block because they stopped accepting. There was some dialogue about possibly being considered spam but wp.com groups by 10 at a time to prevent this so I’m stil not clear on what is going on.

ardpete has flagged this for you, so staff can give you an answer. Personally i have had blogs with views that differ like that. In fact i’ve had 400 one day and then 2 another. It’s how it goes sometimes, depending on what you post.

  • Unknown's avatar

I had 265 views on Monday, yesterday I had 87, today I’m on 180. I wouldn’t be so worried about your views so much, they fluctuate.

  • Your viewer trend appears to be normal. One the first day, you have over 200 views, now it’s settling in around 50 as you begin to build an audience.

Lots of folks love to check out new blogs, but most don’t stick around. Keeping 50 out of 200 is actually pretty good.

As for the emails, please check your spam folder.

Frankly a blog with a high of 200 hits is going to experience a LOT of volatility. You don’t start to even out until well over 500.
